- Former ASTM: SC64D
- SAE: 326
- UNS number: A03190
- Foreign: ISO AlSi6Cu4, AC 2A, 3052, A-S5U, A-S5U3, EN AC-45400, EN AC-45200, LM 22, G-AlSi6Cu4, ISO AlSi5Cu3
- Description: 319 is commonly not heat-treated. We typically use 319.1 aluminum alloy.
Chemical Composition of 319 Aluminum Alloy
The 319 aluminum alloy consists of several constituent metals and minerals, including the following:
- Aluminum (Al): As the base metal, aluminum is the largest constituent of this alloy. It is preferred because it is fairly lightweight.
- Copper (Cu): The 319 alloy may contain up to a maximum of 3.5% copper. It improves the alloy’s corrosion resistance and adds strength.
- Silicon (Si): Silicon constitutes up to 6% of this alloy. It offers strength enhancement and helps make the alloy cast better.
- Iron (Fe): 319 contains a maximum of 1% iron. It is a small-scale impurity present in most alloys and can be damaging in larger quantities.
- Manganese (Mn): This alloy may contain up to 0.1% manganese, which makes the alloy more corrosion resistant and improves strength.
- Zinc (Zn): Zinc may comprise up to 1% of this alloy and offers additional strength.
- Magnesium (Mg): 319 may contain around 0.1% magnesium, improving strength and the alloy’s ability to accept heat treatments.
- Titanium (Ti): This alloy should contain no more than 0.25% titanium, which refines the alloy’s grain structure.
